Lonely, But Never Alone

About two weeks ago I was watching Desperate Housewives and Lynette makes a statement to another expecting mom "there will be times when you're so lonely, but you're never alone." It was interesting to me as my sister and I watched this and she finished her sentence and no, this was not a rerun. The actress, Felicity Huffman, delivered that line with so much desperation and anxiety I could feel it.For days I contemplated that statement. I know all to well how that feels. Before I had my son, I…See More

Welcome Breadwinners

Have you ever felt that on one understands the demands of being a single mom? Are you new to your area and just need to connect with someone? Need to expand your network of friends? Then you need to join The Single Mom's Network.

Ever needed someone you trusted to pick your kid up from daycare because you were stuck in traffic? Or, do you get off at 6:00 but your the practices start at 5:00 so your child can't join the team? The goal of The Single Mom's Network is to help Single Moms and their children.

As a single mom I've experienced many challenges. I've spoken to many other single moms who feel like they have no way to turn. Single Mothers can and should stick together. Come here and create your village. If you own a business and are willing to provide a discount to the members, let me know. Don't forget to sign up for our newsletter, Mommy Memos, the sign-up box is below.

The group started on meetup.com but is now including this social networking site. I really believe that we need more resources to connect whether we can attend meetings or not. Feel free to join us on meetup, this group will remain active for a few more months. Our first monthly Chick Chat was on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Hippo Hopp in Atlanta.

Join TODAY! Want to network with moms in your specific county? Join a group specific to your county and start building your village.

I look forward to meeting you.

Don't forget to connect with The Single Mom's Network on other sites.

Chick Chat

We had our first Monthly Chick Chat on Saturday, August 1. 2009. We had a great time. We discussed everything from preparing for school, to organizing and the non custodial parent. To help bridge the gap between the meetup members and the ning members both in and around metro Atlanta, I will be posting videos and discussions so please participate. Hopefully we will one day have virtual meetings.

My First Time

It was something I knew I had to do. It was the first time I had done it. It was one of those purchases you made that you always knew you'd have to make but you weren't sure how you would feel when the time finally came.

Admittedly, I took my time. I looked around for it but when I didn't see it I didn't stop a sales associate to ask were they were located. I just accepted the fact that I couldn't find it. Then it happened. I saw it. I knew I needed to purchase it. I looked at the… Continue

BROOKLYN FAMILY COURT

I am amazed at the number of women who are continually and habitually abused and assaulted daily, right here in the good ole US of A--- by the Family Court, no less. Can anyone please tell me why, after oftentimes being abused, physically and/or mentally, women who seek the protection and consideration that they deserve from the Family Court System right here in the United States are abused again by those who are 'supposed' to help. The Family Court System, I thought, was supposed to be a place… Continue

Mom Clocking Out

Yesterday I met with three other moms to watch a movie and have dinner. Odd to do this on a Sunday, but a night out without my son is rare considering I'm a single mom. Anyway, we get there and the movie we were going to see wasn't playing at the time the organizer, Danielle, had thought. The others were disappointed (it wasn't a movie I had to see) and we thought about seeing another movie that hadn't started. Before we could buy our tickets Danielle said, I don't want to see it. I had my mind… Continue
